Greetings from the 405!!!

Okay let me start off by saying I've really enjoyed all that I've seen on this blog. Thanks for sharing and keep it coming!!!

Oh yes and hello there I'm tribalbot, and I'm based out of Oklahoma City, which since I moved back here (about 3 yrs ago) from Eugene OR I've found that OKC seems to have a sister city in Portland. Lots of peeps from here seem to be head up to Portland... felt compelled to share that observation for some reason. It may mean something to you one day if not today.

So I know Oklahoma City is not the first place that pops into most peeps minds when they think of art explosions, but the art scene here in OKC is blowing up and I'll be posting bits here as they happen. You can see more of my work over here.


Some friends and I have recently started a new gallery here in town and our first opening is Feb 9th. The Friskee Gallery is where my next show will be so in the meantime I've posted some shots from my opening last weekend, a group show featuring J. Michelle Martin-Coyne, Tony Westlund, and myself.

The show is up through mid April and the opening was one of the best I've experienced yet, super positive energy in the space. Might have had something to do w/ all the colors oozing from the walls. That and X Rated Vodka sponsored the show, so the warm fuzzies might have had something to do w/ the Vodka flow.

my first post

last week i dropped off a few paintings with the nice guys at project gallery for a group show on the 20th. here is a part of one of the paintings that i turned in



it is of me running away from a bible study when i was seven, it is a long strange story, but a good one!




the tiny town with egrets coming out of chimneys instead of smoke.
then i met up with sean who was nice enough to let me stay at his house for a few days to get ready for the show i am in at denm (also on the 20th!) with the incredibly lovely and talented juliana swaney and i got to paint a wall.
oh dear, i think the above sentance was a run on sentance. here is the wall inside:

Neurosis and new books

Saw Neurosis on Saturday.... Super loud and super tough!

ridin dirty!!!

while all you suckas out there were sleepin last friday me, ian, and the goff went out and road with the midnight ridazz!!! it was so freaking cold that night that we thought we would be the only ones,( 25 diggies to be exact). to our surprise 200 or so people still came out to ride in the freazing cold. In the end it was a great ride with lots of down hills and even more whiskey. oh yah, jeremy from the 222 gallery almost beat up some chads and then he spit on there car.

desert treasures

so jayk and i went out to the desert the other day to check on some fun accounts and realized there is some real wierd stuff out in the sandy regions of southern california(as you can see by the photos). At the same time the desert offers some real treasures like "big mommas soul food" in cathedral city. they make real soul food with all the best stuff you can possibly imagine, like candy yams, hot wings, collard greens, and mac n cheese. The owner is the biggest dude i have ever seen. if you are ever in the area, give it a chance
